TO: Freshmen Engineering Students
FROM: Dr. Shane Brown and Karyn Hildreth

We are requesting your participation in a reasearch project to understand factors that influence the success of students in engineering. We will be studying how and with whom students interact with those around them by monitoring the development of social networks over the course of the term.

We are looking for 40 engineering students in their freshman year in the engineering department to participate in our study.

Your participation will include a weekly meeting with Karyn or Shane to discuss your experiences from the previous week and a brief daily diary. During the weekly meetings we will ask that you fill out a survey and answer some questions about social networking that you have done. All information that you provide will be kept completely confidential.
