Every now and then there's a good post on slashdot:

I don't understand the MPAA. In ways they're even more idiotic than RIAA. Let's take an example...
I'm sure most people have come across MPAA's anti-piracy adds. For example, there's that one that starts out by saying:
"YOU WOULDN'T STEAL A CAR..."
So Bailey is selling cookie dough as a school fundraiser. Since most of her family is not from around here, I'm helping her out by forwarding the catalog on to a few friends.

She needs to send in the order Monday (Oct. 9) morning, so make sure to have your email order back before then. I'll write a check to cover the full order cost on Monday, so don't worry if your check is a few days late getting here.
In any debate over the utility of patent systems, IP-maximalists will almost always fall back to the example of the pharmaceutical industry. If this industry didn't have the incentive of monopoly on new drugs, they would never invest the millions of dollars that are necessary to perform new drug research and development, so the argument goes. Without new drug research, no new drugs would be produced. And if new drugs aren't produced, we all suffer from sickness and death. Therefore, they claim, patents are not only good, but directly vital to our well-being.

Will Hardy proposes a "waterfall" model of editing, where content creation and content editing are separate phases. There are several quite good ideas in his submission, one of which is the paragraph property cut-out that "travels" with the current paragraph. His interface is also a model of clarity and simplicity.
His proposal is attached to this post.
